The S.A.F.E. Act is the key component in the Housing and Economic Recovery Act. The S.A.F.E. Act is designed to enhance consumer protection and reduce fraud by providing for a nationwide mortgage licensing system and registry and minimum standards for licensing and registration as a state-licensed loan originator.
